Recently, Philippe (Managing Director of StratX Boston) was interviewed by UR Business Network which streams a variety of radio shows. In the interview, Philippe shares his experiences of working with some of our top US-based clients.
My interview provided the opportunity to share what makes business games uniquely suited to accelerate specific business skills. Business games combine the power of “learning from practice” and learning from the competitive pressure of your peer group.
It has been my experiences, as well as others at StratX that key principles of strategy, marketing and innovation that come to life and stick with people after they experience them in a competitive business game. One fascinating aspect of business games is the human element and how team and individual behaviors mirror real life in a compressed time frame. There are many lessons to be learned for business professionals, including being aware of the difference between people “playing to win” and people “playing not to lose”.
This interview contains some of my best experiences regarding the most creative and high impact use of business games by clients around the world, as well as some mistakes to avoid. Take a few minutes to listen to my interview and hear my thoughts about current trends around learning and business games, and how “artificial intelligence”- type mechanisms bring new opportunities to business gaming.
